Guitar Hero attempts to give the already-developed iPhone rhythm genre a kick up the posterior with a handful of new mechanics. You don’t just tap on-screen to match the rhythm of the notes, you also slide, strum and whammy. Although we’re not quite sure when whammy became a verb.

For your £1.79, you get the Guitar Hero game and six songs. This doesn’t sound very generous when Gameloft’s Guitar Rock Tour sells for the same price and includes 17, but the tracks included are winners, including Queen, The Rolling Stones and The White Stripes. Hohohohoho, here’s a good one. Apparently, there are problems with the iPhone 4, over in the colonies, as it seems that the phone is dropping calls, and losing signal, but bizarrely, is only losing signal when you hold it in your left hand (I’ll qualify that, it doesn’t seem to be a problem over here in Blighty, because we have a better, stronger network infrastructure). Sega is celebrating Sonic’s 19th birthday by knocking its games prices down by as much as 66 per cent.

Aside from all the Sonic games currently on the App Store, Streets of Rage, Super Monkey Ball (all versions) and the rock-solid, classic Golden Axe is also available for a week, at a bargain price.
