Single SIM capable Nokia E5 smartphone is available in India from today for the price of Rs. 12,690 and it offers combination of features for business oriented, multimedia entertainment, social networking and email use.

Like the Nokia E71 and E72, the Nokia E5 is a tidy little handset measuring 115 x 58.9 x 12.8 mm, similar dimensions as E71 and E72, though the E5 is approximately 2mm thicker than it’s predecessors. On the weight side, it weighs 126 grams, that is 2 gms lighter than the E72.

The new Nokia E5 is powered by ARM 11 600 MHz processor and runs Nokia’s Symbian OS S60 rel 3.2 multi-user mobile operating system and is equipped with 2.36-inch 320 x 240 pixels resolution (TFT) 256K capable display and features a full QWERTY keyboard.

Below the screen Nokia E5 features two hot keys and dedicated buttons for both the homescreen and messaging and call start/answer and end buttons.
The Nokia E5 also boasts a suite of homescreen features including one-touch access to favourite contacts, and favourite social network sites besides displaying Facebook updates direct to contacts list, allowing users to see what their friends are posting on their Facebook account.

New Nokia E5 smartphone comes with massive 256-MB ROM plus 256 MB NAND Flash memory and handset also supports microSD memory card with maximum of 32-GB of expandable memory to help store large volume of music, videos, and photos. A 2GB memory card comes along with the package.

For data connectivity, the new Nokia E5 Smartphone includes EDGE (EGPRS) Class 32 with 296 kbps speed, GPRS Class 32 connection, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g wireless network connection using Unlicensed Mobile Access (UMA) technology, 3G HSDPA with upto 10.2 Mbps speed, 3G HSUPA with upto 2 Mbps speed, and USB v2.0 miniUSB port for wired connectivity.

In addition, Nokia E5 also offers built-in Bluetooth v2.0 EDR with A2DP connection. The wireless Bluetooth v2.0 connection with Advanced Audio Distribution Profile (A2DP) feature offered by Nokia E5 mobilephone allows listening to music on bluetooth compatible headset absolutely wire-free and in full stereo.

The EDGE Class 32 network connection allows ultra fast data transmissions, and faster downloads and file transfers, while Bluetooth technology enables communication with other Bluetooth compatible devices and gadgets such as color printers, PDAs and laptops for instant sync-ups, data transfer and print jobs in a flash.

The new Nokia E5 QWERTY phone features 5.0 megapixel enhanced fixed-focus digital camera with maximum 2592 x 1944 pixels resolution. The camera also offers 4x digital zoom and LED flash, and allows full screen viewfinder. The digital camera is also capable of recording video in full VGA resolution at upto 15 fps.

There is NO secondary VGA resolution front-facing digital camera for video calling over 3G network which is almost a standard feature on 3G enabled handsets.

The Nokia E5 QWERTY smartphone phone also offers integrated MP3 media player which supports MP3, WMA, WAV, RA, AAC, and M4A music file formats and the video player allows WMV, RV, MP4 and 3GP file support. There is also an integrated FM stereo radio with Visual Radio feature.

Quad-band GSM/EDGE and tri-band 3G capable Nokia E5 mobile phone’s other features includes 3.5 mm audio jack, built-in GPS with A-GPS support and includes Nokia Maps 3.0, built-in Loudspeaker for integrated handsfree speaker, push to talk facility, voice commands and voice recording.

The NOkia E5 also offers support for Flash Lite 3.0, JAVA MIDP 2.0 and includes MS document viewer software for Word, Excel, Powerpoint along with PDF files.

The Nokia E5 QWERTY Smartphone allows integration to a wide range of corporate business email solutions including Nokia Intellisync Wireless Email and Mail for Exchange to communicate with Microsoft Exchange Server. The handset is also capable of integration with corporate telephony systems (PBX) through Nokia Mobile Unified Communications application solutions.

Applications offered includes Organizer involving Calculator, Calendar, Clock, Converter, Data Synchronization, File manager, Notepad, What time is it), and Tools that includes Connection manager, Device manager, Help, Landmarks, Personalization, Profiles, Settings, Speed dialling, Voice commands, Voice mail.

Available in Carbon Black, Chalk White, Sky Blue, Copper Brown, Silver Grey colors, the new Nokia E5 QWERTY mobile phone comes with Li-Ion 1200 mAh standard battery which offers up to 17 hrs of talk time on 2G/GSM and 635 hrs of stand-by time with 2G. On 3G network, the available talk-time reduced to 5 hrs but stand-by time improves to 670 odd hrs.
